THE management of Guinness Nigeria Plc has revealed measures put in place, by the company, aimed at ensuring the protection of its operating environments, in demonstration of its corporate responsibility.
Speaking at the commissioning of the company’s N6.5billion pet bottles plant and the launch of its new pet bottles for its non-alcoholic drinks, recently, in Lagos, the company’s Managing Director, Mr. Peter Ndegwa stated that one of the strategies, adopted by the company, is to work with local artists in the community, to recycle used PET bottles into fascinating art works, thereby eliminating plastic wastes.
He added that the company had also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a profit social enterprise, Wecyclers, that promotes environmental sustainability, socio-economic development and community health in support of its waste management agenda.
Unveiling the new pet bottles, the Guinness Nigeria Plc boss explained that the new formats for its adult premium non-alcoholic drinks – Malta Guinness classic, Dubic Malt, and Orijin Zero- were introduced to provide alternatives for the teeming consumers of the brands.

According to him, the new PET bottle format of the Adult Premium Non-Alcoholic Drinks has been produced with quality standards, which the company is noted for.
“Our consumers are always at the heart of what we do and the launch of these PET bottles is no exception.
“We recognize that our consumers are always on the move and so these portable PET bottles will provide a convenient means for our consumers to enjoy their Malta Guinness, Dubic Malt and Orijin Zero on-the-go.”
“Besides, as responsible corporate citizens, we are also aware of the dangers plastic pose to our environment, so we have already put in place measures to ensure we protect the environment. We will be working with local artists to recycle used PET bottles into fascinating art works.
“ This partnership with local artists is just one of our many initiatives to reduce our environmental impact as well as join the global movement to advance sustainable development,” Ndegwa stated.
