Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has enjoined the management of the State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Magodo, Lagos to grow it to an institution that will be an envy of other institutions globally.

Governor Sanwo-Olu made the call while speaking at the 30th Anniversary of the institution which held on Friday, urging civil servants in the state to be dynamic, innovative and be committed to learning, being the only way they can get to a higher position in public service.

The governor charged the PSSDC management to be committed to bringing innovations to the institution and make it the best and ahead of other institutions in the world.

“We need to preserve the institution and grow it to an enviable level. To grow it internationally,” the governor said.

Speaking further, Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that learning is a continuous process, saying that that was what gave birth to the institute in 1994 to serve as avenue to train civil servants, in order for them to improve their knowledge and be effective in their duty.

“Learning and development is a continuous process, we should not stop learning, we should all aspire to grow, that is where your relevance comes from.

“We should be dynamic and earn new learning skill. We need to speak to the reality of learning and development, we need to be abreast of new innovations,” he said.

The Director General of the institute, Adekunmilola Adio-Moses, earlier in his speech, stated that the objective of the institute was to serve as an institution that would train other people globally.

He disclosed that PSSDC was building a hall that can accommodate more students as part of effort to accommodate more students, saying that some of the projects would be launched as part of the event marking the anniversary.

“Our future commitment is to train more students and provide leverage for learning on technology.

“The governor will today launch some of our projects,” Adio- Moses said.

The Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Bode Agoro, in his speech, said that PSSDC had provided high rate of quality learning to public servants and people in the private sector.

Agoro explained that the essence of setting up the institute was to provide capacity building, “develop highly skilled, efficient public service, create excellence, innovation and capacity building to allow public servants to excel in their roles.”

Agoro equally urged the management of the institute to strengthen partnership with stakeholders to entrench capacity building.
