At a press conference before the launching, the Executive Director of E-Paper Vendor, Anthony Oni, said the idea of E-paper was conceived following the growing numbers of internet subscribers, which is gradually phasing of the use of physical paper for dissemination of information.
He however noted that the organisation had gone into understanding with Newspaper Companies to have the daily news including adverts and public announcement converted into a PDF format and sent to subscribers.
According to him “it is no doubt that the deepening of internet penetration, affordability of digital devices and the need to scale learning and reduce the cost of business have become critical reasons for embracing digital products.
“The world is on daily basis shifting towards the paperless divide so as to ensure that the spending on physical papers is greatly reduces.
“The economic situation in the country is pushing individuals and organisations to abandon the reading culture of newspapers due to their inability to bear the cost.”
Oni therefore said “with PDF newspapers, individuals and organisations can now access Nigerian newspapers anywhere in the world and also perform keyword search in newspapers for items that concerns them.”
