Group lauds Oluwole Adama’s appointment as MDGIF director

A Non-Governmental Organisation, Good Governance Advocacy (GGA) has hailed the appointment of Oluwole Adama as the Executive Director, Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF) Governing Council, by President Bola Tinubu.

The NGO, an organisation focusing on the midstream and downstream gas sector of the economy in Ondo State made the commendation on Monday in Akure, Ondo State capital.

Speaking to newsmen on the appointment, the Chairman of the group, Prince Niyi Ogunfeyinmi, while speaking to newsmen in Akure, the state capital, described the appointment of Adama as a round peg in a round hole.

He said President Tinubu’s decision was apt, noting that with Adama’s rich experience and exemplary track records, he would make tremendous impact in the MDGIF.

Ogunfeyinmi, therefore, urged Adama, who’s from Oil producing Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, to sustain his quality as a transparent, disciplined, and patriotic personality which is in line with President Tinubu’s vision to bolster the gas sector for robust and inclusive economic growth in Nigeria.

The MDGIF Governing Council is chaired by the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources (Gas), with other members including representatives from the Federal Ministry of Finance and independent members among who are Amina Maina, Edet David Ubong, and Tajudeen Bolaji Musa.

Meanwhile, Comrade Orioye Gbayisemore, the National chairman of advocacy groups for petroleum price controls in Niger Delta region, who Congratulated Adama on the appointment, urged him to deliver world-class service marked by integrity, professionalism, accountability and transparency.

He charged Adama to address crucial issues in the sector including safety standards, environmental protection, pricing, market competition, particularly for consumers in the energy sector.

Also, an oil and gas professional and a financial service provider based in Southampton, United Kingdom, Wale Kuboye has commended President Tinubu for repositioning the NMDPRA for improved productivity to enhance the economy.

Kuboye expressed confidence in seeing the manifestation of laudable vision and progressive initiative of President Tinubu soonest.

NMDPRA is responsible for regulating midstream and downstream petroleum operations in Nigeria, consolidates the functions of three previously separate agencies: Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), Petroleum Equalization Fund (Management) Board (PEFMB), and the midstream and downstream division of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR).
