
OVER N105million worth of learning materials has been donated to Benue state by Jolly Phonic program.
Training Manager, Nicholas Ochojila disclosed this in a press release made available to Tribune Online in Makurdi on Sunday.
Jolly Phonic, according to Ochojila is the world leading synthetic phonics program which teaches the 42 sounds in the fast and fun way and is widely used in the United Kingdom among other countries.
The training manager said the training was underway in Benue which is already taken place in Otukpo, Makurdi and Adikpo in Ukum local government area of the state.
The statement added that teachers of primary one and two, as well as head teachers, including LGEA officials, have received three-day intensive training from an expert team of trainers.
He said the participants were exposed to the Jolly Phonics methodology and were equipped with skills needed for effective mentoring, monitoring, assessing literacy skills and evaluating the implementation of the method.

Ochojila further said that to date, the US Jolly Phonics project had donated 2,393,583 pupil books and 59,9 37 textbooks, trained over 34,000 teachers, head teachers, government officials and potentially reached over 2,378,000 pupils all over Nigeria.
The release added that the executive secretary of Benue SUBEB, Pastor Philip Tarchin, expressed delight in the SUBEB showcasing commitment to transform literacy level in the state.
