Umbrella association of indigenes of Ilorin emirate, the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), has advised the new state governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, to give greater premium to Ilorin emirate considering her strategic roles and population.
Speaking through its acting national president, Alhaji Yahaya Ahmed, at a consultative meeting which the governor had with leaders of thought and elders from across the state, the union said that the advice became expedient, especially, because the area has the largest concentration of Kwarans who are either indigenes or residents of the state.
“Any project sited in Ilorin is for the benefit of the entire state as the level of development recorded there will be largely used to measure the degree of progress attained by the state”, he said.
The union, which congratulated Alhaji Abdulrazaq on his inauguration as the seventh executive governor of the state, advised him and all those who would soon assume one position or the other in government at all levels to always be mindful of their campaign promises to the electorate who are desirous of qualitative services that would improve their lots.
Also speaking at the event, a former National Secretary of the Union, Alhaji Abdulmuminin Abdulmalik, who spoke on behalf of opinion leaders from Kwara Central Senatorial District, tasked the governor to be fair, just and transparent in the discharge of his duties.

Congratulating the people of the state on the peaceful transition from one government to the other, Alhaji Ahmed charged the Governor to hit the ground running.
He implored him to prioritise projects and programmes that will endear him and his administration to the people.
While the Union assured Governor AbdulRazaq of her support at all times, the IEDPU implored other stakeholders and the generality of the people of the State to extend their hands of support to Alhaji AbdulRasaq to enable him discharge his duties as expected.
The union prayed Allah to grant the Governor and his cabinet all they would need to discharge their responsibilities far beyond the expectations of all.
