The Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, has commended the artistic performance of Burna Boy at the 66th edition of the Recording Academy Grammy Awards, which were held in Los Angeles, California, USA, on Sunday, February 5.
The Grammy-winning sensation, who is the first Nigerian artist to perform at the main ceremony of the Grammy Awards, raised a global consciousness that has brought a stamp of recognition to Nigerian culture, which is now placed on top of global civilization with the hit song Sitting on Top of the World.”.
Extolling Burna Boy’s performance, which featured legendary Brandy and Tiwa Savage, Ajiboye said it was indeed a stamp of authority on African culture and Nigeria in particular that would explode the world with perfect recognition of the Nigerian culture.
The media assistant to the Executive Secretary of NICO, Mr Caleb Nor, noted in a statement that while extending his commendation to Davido, Ajiboye said Davido has made the greatest mark of a lifetime in his chosen career and should not have any regrets, as the world is in recognition of the fact that the Grammy was truly his but just did not come to him.
He expressed hope that in the years to come, there will be Grammys to be won over and over again that will bring glory to Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian government has assured of its continued support for Nigerian artists to keep showcasing their talents towards placing our culture on top of global civilization.
Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, who represented Nigeria at this year’s Grammy, encouraged the nominee artists to stay focused and keep faith with the industry, saying even without winning any of the award categories, it did not take the shine off Nigeria as “our music was aptly and perfectly represented to the world.”.
