Gov Namadi admits crisis in Jigawa APC

Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has acknowledged the existence of an internal crisis within the state chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor made the admission while addressing journalists at his residence shortly after returning from a three-week foreign vacation.

He said, “While I was away, I heard some bad things happened. Frankly, Jigawa people are not known for such behavior.

“My appeal to everyone is to exercise patience with one another. It is natural that when people live together, misunderstandings can arise.

“However, these are internal issues that should be resolved within, without airing grievances publicly or indiscriminately.”

Namadi emphasized, “APC in Jigawa State is one; we all belong to it. It is our only political party. My appeal to everyone is to maintain patience and unity among ourselves.”

He further noted, “As leaders, whenever we receive information or are approached with any issues or matters, it is our duty to thoroughly investigate before taking action.

“As both leaders and followers, we all have our responsibilities. We must exercise patience and live in peace, as this is what will bring progress.

“We will continue to remain loyal to our leaders, ensuring we protect their dignity, image, and rights, by God’s will.”

It can be recalled that during Governor Namadi’s three-week trip abroad, a crisis erupted between him and the immediate past governor of the state, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, who is now the Minister of Defense.

Tribune online reports that the two camp. supporters of Governor Namadi and Minister Badaru engaged in a political clash, accusing each other of sabotage and anti-party activities.

During the governor’s absence, the Minister of Defense visited Hadejia, the headquarters of the governor’s senatorial district

. A large crowd was organized to receive him, and during the gathering, some individuals allegedly attacked and criticized the governor, suggesting that he may only serve one term in office.

This development reportedly angered Governor Namadi’s supporters, who viewed the event as a deliberate attempt to disgrace and embarrass the governor and his administration in his federal and senatorial constituencies, despite being members of the same political party.

In response, a press statement—allegedly issued by unidentified APC members from Jigawa State—called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to dismiss the Minister of Defense over alleged anti-party activities and collusion with the opposition to undermine APC’s chances in the 2027 elections.
