As part of the efforts to reposition the tertiary institutions in Plateau, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has dissolved with immediate effect the governing council of the Plateau State University, Bokkos, and removed the vice chancellor, Professor Bernard Matur Malau.
According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Samuel Jatau, other tertiary institutions affected include Plateau State Polytechnic in Barkin Ladi, College of Education in Gindiri, College of Health Technology in Zawan, and Pankshin.
Though the reason for thier sack was not mentioned in the statement, it might not be unconnected to the fact that they were appointed by the immediate past administration.
It further directed that all those relieved of thier appointments are required to immediately hand over their duties to the next most senior officer within their respective institutions.
In addition, the Governor has approved the cancellation of recruitments earlier conducted by Tertiary Institutions in October, 2022 and early 2023 that have been under suspension.
The State government also pointed out that applications for an all-inclusive recruitment for all tertiary institutions would be advertised.
