Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has applauded security agencies in the state for their commitment to public safety through strategic responses to crime and criminalities.
The Governor was speaking on Saturday evening at the 2024 edition of the annual Officers Dinner and Award ceremony organised by the State Police Command, Bauchi.
According to him, “We are safe and secure by the grace of Allah, but we must thank our heroes, who are the Police and other security agencies. We thank you most sincerely; with the little assistance we are giving, you are doing so much, and yet you are so modest.”
He stressed that, “With a deep sense of humility, the little support we are giving, you are working round the clock to safeguard us. I feel highly honoured as a leader, and today, we have been attested as one of the most secure states in Nigeria.”
The Governor stated that, “You have done that with little or no effort. I remember I was telling my wife that it had been long since I gave our security agencies vehicles. I see my colleagues who have the luxury of resources giving so much to the Police. But I must say what really makes me happy is not my disability or inadequacy, but the capacity of the Police to be involved in the culture of management.”
“We have looked at all their operational vehicles, and their image shows me some of the most important vehicles that have been packed for many years and can be used to secure us. Some of you can see some of the vehicles in front of our government house, my residence,” he said.
The Governor praised the Police and sister security agencies for making Bauchi one of the safest states in the country and pledged his administration’s continued support to sustain the achievements.
The State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Muhammad, attributed the Police successes in 2024 to reliable information provided by the public, whom he described as essential partners in ensuring a secure environment.
In line with the Command’s commitment to accountability and transparency, CP Auwal Musa revealed that eighteen personnel had faced internal disciplinary measures for professional misconduct, which included the dismissal of one Police Constable and the demotion of four officers.
He also highlighted the strategic collaboration between the Police, sister security agencies, religious leaders, and traditional rulers to strengthen efforts in combating crime in the state.
He particularly commended the robust relationship between the Command and the Media, which he said has led to objective, fair, and responsible reportage of the activities of the Command.
The CP assured that the Command will continue to partner with journalists in ensuring that correct information is given to the public in order to reduce crimes and criminalities across the state.
The event featured the presentation of awards to outstanding officers, media practitioners, as well as the Governor and his wife.
