Gov Bago’s wife launches free medical outreach in Niger community

Hajiya Fatima Bago, wife of Niger Governor, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago, has launched a free medical outreach in Edati community, Edati local government area of the State ;aimed at improving healthcare access across the state.

The three-day Medical outreach, a collaboration between her office and the Graceland Healthcare Development Foundation, Kaduna, will provide free surgeries, 1,000 reading glasses, medical consultations, essential medications, and health education to members of the community.

Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago commended the foundation for its initiative, saying, “it would improve the lives of the people of Niger through healthcare services”.

She emphasised the importance of charity and compassion, stating that “giving back is not just about having and giving wealth, it is about using whatever we have to uplift those around us.”

The programme will provide free medical consultations, surgeries, screenings, and reading glasses to enable people to live healthier lives.

The first lady commended her husband, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, for his efforts in transforming the state’s healthcare sector.

Commissioner for Primary Health, Dr Ibrahim Dangana, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Tertiary Health, Dr. Gana Mohammed, said the ministry would ensure necessary provisions to deliver quality healthcare to the people of Edati.

Project Coordinator of the foundation, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed said the three-day medical intervention aims to perform 200 surgeries, targeting various health conditions such as hernia, appendicitis, and utero-vaginal prolapse.

He said the intervention targets various health conditions such as hernia, appendicitis, ganglion, uterovaginal prolapse, goiters, fibroids, hydrocele, and undescended testicles.

He further explained that the medical outreach would also provide healthcare services for hypertension, diabetes, ulcer, malaria, typhoid, and deworming, especially for women and children.
