In a remarkable display of generosity, Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, distributed millions of naira to approximately 200 sachet water vendors and laborers working on various construction projects at the Government House in Minna.
The gesture, aimed at commemorating Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, brought joy and relief to the beneficiaries, each of whom received N20,000.
A sachet water seller, overwhelmed by the governor’s kindness, was visibly shaken as she praised Governor Bago for boosting her morale.
Nigerlites have largely applauded the governor’s initiative, acknowledging its potential to alleviate hardships faced by ordinary citizens.
Some, however, suggested that the funds could have been better utilised to purchase subsidized grains for the less privileged, given the current economic challenges.
Governor Bago’s actions have been praised by many, with some considering him more compassionate than other governors who do not provide similar support.
