Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has reaffirmed his commitment to ending the security challenges confronting the state.
Governor Umaru Bago stated this during the traditional Mini Durbar held at the Palace of the Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora, Muhammad Barau Mu’azu II, to mark this year’s Eid-El-Fitr celebration.
The Governor said his administration is committed to taking proactive steps by collaborating with conventional and non-conventional security agents to contain banditry and other forms of terrorist activities in the state, which have continued to pose a threat to the lives of residents.
He also disclosed that plans are underway to repair and reconstruct hospitals in Kontagora to provide healthcare services to the people.
While highlighting numerous measures the State Government has devised to tackle poverty in the state, Governor Umaru Bago, nicknamed the Farmer Governor, said agriculture remains key in improving the economy. Hence, his administration is well on course in its agricultural revolution.
Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora, Alhaji Muhammad Barau Mu’azu II, in his address, called on his subjects to remain law-abiding and continue to live in peace with one another for the growth and development of the state.
He thanked Governor Umaru Bago for his efforts aimed at developing Kontagora Emirates and reassured him of continued support.

The Governor was presented with gifts by the Sarkin Sudan as a mark of honor and respect.
Governor Umaru Bago also held a meeting with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Stalwarts from Niger North Senatorial District at the State government lodge in Kontagora, where he highlighted some projects to be executed for the region under his “New Niger” initiative.
He called for their support to achieve his agenda aimed at improving all sectors in the state.
