Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has offered provisional employment to all beneficiaries of Senator Muhammad Sani Musa’s international undergraduate scholarship scheme.
The governor made the announcement during the official pre-departure briefing and unveiling ceremony for 100 beneficiaries of the 2025 scholarship programme initiated by the Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Abuja.
Governor Bago also announced a donation of $2,000 to each beneficiary, in addition to giving ₦1 million to each of their parents in recognition of their parental support.
Commending Senator Musa for the initiative, the governor said the lawmaker was making the state proud and assured continued partnership with him for the overall growth and development of Niger State.
He described the senator as a visionary leader and one of the best minds the state has produced. He also revealed that Senator Musa had offered the state government 30 additional slots for the next phase of beneficiaries, who will be sponsored to China to study science-related courses.
Governor Bago, who reiterated his administration’s plan to sponsor 1,000 students to study abroad, urged the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors of the state while overseas.
The initiator of the international undergraduate scholarship, Senator Muhammad Sani Musa, said the programme was designed to complement the transformational agenda of Governor Bago towards achieving a “New Niger.”
According to the senator, the scholarship programme aims to help brilliant young people achieve their dreams. He added that the portal for the next phase would soon open, with opportunities to study courses in medicine, biomedical sciences, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
The Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Faruk Bahago, applauded Senator Musa for providing opportunities to the less privileged to further their education and contribute to societal development.

Chairman of the International Scholarship Committee, Malam Ibrahim Balarabe, disclosed that more than 600 people applied for the scholarship in three key areas — medical sciences, information technology, and engineering. He noted that 100 beneficiaries were selected after a rigorous process, which included drug tests, verification of educational qualifications, and background checks.
Former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Zubairu Dada, described education as the best legacy for children. He commended Senator Musa’s thoughtful initiative to help the poor pursue their dreams and urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the opportunity, stay focused, and avoid bad influences.
Mrs Paulina Dami Dami, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries’ parents, and Habib Sabi Imam, speaking for the beneficiaries themselves, expressed gratitude to Senator Musa for the life-changing opportunity and promised not to disappoint the people of Niger State.
