GOVERNOR Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has commended the state Ministry of Transport, the Pilgrims Welfare Board and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for ensuring the successful airlift of intending pilgrims from the state to Saudi Arabia.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago noted that stakeholders, including the intending pilgrims, contributed significantly to their successful transportation to Saudi Arabia for their religious obligations.
The governor stated that the successful airlift of the pilgrims reflected proper coordination, dedication and commitment from the state government and other stakeholders, aimed at ensuring a smooth process.
He emphasised that the early arrival of the state’s intending pilgrims in Saudi Arabia to perform the 2025 Hajj is a testament to the resilience and continued support of the people for his policies and programmes.
He noted that this early arrival would also make their stay in the holy land more memorable and fulfilling.
Bago also appreciated the state’s 2025 Amirul Hajj, the Emir of Kagara, Alhaji Ahmad Garba Gunna; security agencies, the medical team and the other stakeholders for working tirelessly to ensure the successful airlift of the intending pilgrims.
The governor expressed pride in the collective efforts of the stakeholders and assured that his administration would continue to work towards improving the pilgrimage process through relevant authorities to guarantee continued success.

He reiterated his call on the intending pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the state and to pray for the peace and prosperity of Niger State in particular and Nigeria as a whole.
Over 3,000 intending pilgrims from the 25 local government areas of the state were airlifted to Saudi Arabia from the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna, in seven batches.
