Gov Bago bags Spectacular Leadership Award

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has been bestowed with the spectacular leadership award by the 1985 set of Marafa primary schools in Minna.

The ceremony, which was held over the weekend at the Banquet Hall of Justice Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre Minna, was tagged “Reunion luncheon and award of Marafa primary school set of 85.”

The ceremony, which was also witnessed by friends and well-wishers, was a time for the class of 85 students to reunite after over 38 years to revive and restore the lost glory of the school in terms of infrastructure.

The Marafa primary school, which is situated within the Minna Metropolitan Area, and, the alumni association decided to meet after 38 years to honour Governor Umaru Bago and four others who have excelled in their various chosen careers.

In his address on the occasion, the Chairman of the Marafa Primary School, Minna Old Students Association, Class of ’85, Alhaji Umaru Musa Zago, applauded the Head Teacher and teachers for moulding them to reach this far.

“Our head teacher and teachers were endearing and saw us as their children, making the learning easier for us, irrespective of the belief, tongue, gender, or social status of our parents.”.

Zago explained that the discipline of those years is still perfecting in them, which is why “we were excelling in our different paths, making positive impacts in our generation across the private and public sectors.”

“It pleases us to have a sitting governor, Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago, as Marafa ’85 set, which is blessed with men and women.

“We are proud to be part of this great school, particularly the ’85 set, as we have made history today after over 38 years.”

“We are glad to give you this spectacular award for making an impact in the public eye as a politician over the years, particularly for making this reunion a reality.

“We assured you of our unflinching support with prayers as you steer the ship of the state to achieve the New Niger agenda.”

Other recipients of the award of excellence include the state chairman of the Nigeria Institute of Architects, Arch Aliyu Yerima, Engr. Gimba Yisa, Abdul Wasiu Amusa, and Hajiya Fatima Kolo, while the clergy of the old students association, Pastor Samuel Audu, prayed for good health and a successful tenure of Governor Umaru Bago.
