Christians in Gombe state have been called upon to use the special period of Christmas to spread and share love for an enduring society just as they were charged to be tolerant and accommodating in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The call was made the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 general elections in Gombe State, Senator Usman Bayero Nafada, who is currently representing Gombe North at the Upper Chambers of the National Assembly.
The call is contained in a press release signed and made available to newsmen in Gombe on Wednesday by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Bayero Nafada Campaign Organization, Dahiru Hassan Kera.
He stated that “Christmas is here with us again and we are about witnessing the completion of another year. We must give thanks to Almighty God for preserving our lives and giving us the opportunity to witness this festive season of love”.
According to him, Christmas is all about spreading and sharing of love and stressed that, “We cannot be peace lovers if we are not peacemakers.”
He further stated that: “As we celebrate this year’s Christmas, let us soberly reflect and introspect on all that God has done for us as a State, communities, families and individuals and give gratitude to God and the founding fathers of Gombe state for their vision and foresight. Let us be grateful for the tremendous progress witnessed by our past leaders especially the current administration of Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo”.
The gubernatorial candidate further expressed his resolve to continue the good work when voted into power in 2019 but pointed that “Together we can further transform Gombe State to an enviable level of sustained development”.
The former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and one time Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly also used the opportunity to call on the People of Gombe state to join hands with him as he intends to continue to fight poverty and illiteracy by raising the living standard of the people and make the State a land of peace, freedom, equity and opportunity for all.
“As the electioneering campaigns gathers momentum, I appeal to the good people of Gombe State to ensure that the elections are held under the atmosphere of peace and tranquility,” he called.
