Gombe NSCDC arrests nine suspects for various criminal offences

Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested and paraded nine suspects for alleged varying criminal offences including breach of public peace, theft of burglary windows and cow.

While parading the suspects at the Government headquarters in Gombe, the State Commandant Muhammad Bello said that the suspects, after their arrest, confessed to the various crimes and would be charged to the court immediately.

Represented by the Command Public Relations Officer, SC Buhari Sa’ad, while speaking to Journalists, the Commandant explained that the crimes were committed in three categories.

He identified the initial category as group of five people who engaged in public fight, over a mobile phone, stressing that their crime was a breach of peace.

According to him, “Today, we have two categories of suspects. The first category are five people, three girls and two boys who were fighting at Miyetti Hotel and we got them arrested for breach of public peace. The case involved one Ibrahim who is now at large, they were fighting for phone.”

Speaking further, he said that there was a case of a staff of a hospital who was alleged to have stolen his brother’s windows and the burglary protection.

He added, “The other category is concerning Burglary and theft involving Bello Usman, a staff of Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, nursing department who stole five burglary windows belonging to the complainant who happens to be his elder brother. He has confessed to the crime.”

Muhammad Bello also disclosed that another case is that of theft of a cow in Nafada LGA which involved Three persons.

The Commandant said, “The next is a case of suspected cow theft and they are all here. The complainant is a 50-year-old Man from Nafada LGA of Gombe State. After diligent investigations, the prime suspect Abubakar Beto, and two others were arrested.”

He assured that the NSCDC will continue to keep eyes on the society to ensure that law and order is maintained across the state warning criminal elements to steer clear of the state or stop their criminal activities before they are arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.
