Gombe State Internal Revenue Service (GIRS) has flagged off its E-tax payment campaign with the Gombe State Tyre Dealers Association on a strategic move to enhance voluntary tax compliance and improve digital revenue collection.
According to statement by the Head of Corporate Communications, Faruk Mu’azu Gombe, the ceremony took place at the premises of the Association’s Chairman, Emmanuel C. Okoli, situated opposite Mega Filling Station in the Gombe metropolis on Wednesday.
Addressing attendees during the event, the Executive Chairman of GIRS, Aisha Adamu, commended the tire dealers for their support and proactive stance toward tax compliance.
She described the Association’s commitment as exemplary and vital to the State’s development agenda.

“We are indeed happy with your understanding of tax matters, especially at a time when the Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, is prioritizing infrastructure and social development through internally generated revenue.”
“Your cooperation contributes significantly to the realization of these goals,” she said.
In his response, the chairman of the Tire Dealers Association, Emmanuel C. Okoli, expressed his gratitude to the GIRS leadership for bringing the campaign directly to their doorstep.
He also acknowledged the ongoing transformation across the state under Governor Yahaya’s leadership.
“We are thankful that you took the time to visit us personally. Your presence here today shows the level of importance GIRS places on the taxpayers.”
“I assure you that, as chairman, I will do everything within my power to ensure all our members comply and pay their taxes as and when due,” Mr. Okoli assured.
The event concluded with a live demonstration of the e-tax payment system, during which several members of the association completed their tax payments on-site, signaling a strong start to the campaign.
