In continuation of his assessment tour of Secondary Schools in the state to see the level of dilapidation, Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya inspected the state of infrastructure at Government Science Secondary School, Kaltungo vowing to restore the school’s past glory just as he tasked the host communities on maintenance culture.
The Governor who stressed that his administration which has quality and standard education as priority promised to restore the famous Government Science Secondary School, Kaltungo to its past glory.
Inuwa Yahaya who spoke at the end of the unscheduled visit to assess progress and level of work that his administration awarded a few months ago in the school stressed his administration’s commitment towards prioritizing education and revitalizing schools in the state, said there is no alternative to education, hence he will leave no stone unturned in revamping the sector.
He also disclosed plans to upgrade and modernize some selected schools across the 3 Senatorial zones and make them standard so as to compete favourably with others across the country in terms of facilities, teaching and learning environment.
He said that “Despite the meagre resources at our disposal, our administration will ensure that some selected schools across the 3 senatorial zones in the state are upgraded to the required standard”.

The Governor added that ” I recently declared a ‘State of Emergency’ in education with a view to addressing the challenges in the sector as well as the rots and infrastructural decay in our schools, bequeathed to us by the immediate past administration”.
‘You can all see for yourselves we are matching our words with actions. I am therefore giving you my words that this administration will do its part in fixing this school and the community shall also complement government’s effort by collaborating with the school’s officials in protecting the infrastructures”, he assured.
Inuwa Yahaya added that “I task you to imbibe maintenance culture by taking ownership and protecting public property in your respective communities. Whenever a public property is not properly managed, host communities become the most affected”.
While conducting the Governor around the school, the Commissioner of Education, Dr Habu Dahiru in the company of the Deputy Governor, Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Commissioners, Special Advisers, the Mai Kaltungo and other government functionaries assured that the project will be done according to the specifications.
The Governor then expressed satisfaction with the progress of work on the structures undergoing renovation and promised to ensure that the school gets all the required modern educational facilities.
It will be recalled that the Governor had recently directed the state Ministry of Education to commence renovation of dilapidated structures at the Government Secondary School Kaltungo and other schools, which he met in total decay and appalling conditions on assumption of office as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Senior Special Assistant Media and Publicity to the Governor.
