Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Chief Medical Director of the Gombe State Specialist Hospital, Dr. Sambo Dawa and his family, over the demise of their beloved mother, Mrs. Rebecca Jones Dawa, who passed away on Saturday, 23rd August 2025, at the age of 71, after a prolonged illness.
The Governor described the late Mrs. Dawa, a retired teacher and former Deputy Director in the Gombe State Ministry of Education, as a dedicated public servant who committed her life to shaping minds and serving her community with honour and devotion.
“The death of Mrs. Rebecca Dawa is a painful loss, not only to her family but to the entire Billiri community and the education sector where she left a lasting legacy”, the Governor said.
He extended his sympathies to the Dawa family, the people of Billiri Local Government Area, and all those affected by her passing.
Inuwa Yahaya prayed for eternal rest for the departed and for God’s comfort upon the bereaved family.
According to the family, the burial is scheduled for Friday, 28th August 2025, at the family residence in Billiri town as contained in a statement signed by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, (Press Affairs), Government House, Gombe.
