Former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) housemate, Deeone, has described his participation in the reality TV show as “a mistake”, saying it had “little impact” on his career.
Deeone, born Aderombi Adedayo Martin, was evicted after 22 days in the 2018 ‘Double Wahala’ edition.
In a recent interview, the comedian and social media critic dismissed the show’s influence, claiming that many former housemates are now struggling financially.
“Big Brother Naija was a mistake that happened in my life. Big Brother did not really help me like that. There are a lot of people who went to Big Brother Naija who today are struggling with what to eat,” he said.
He also took swipes at several celebrities and ex-housemates. Deeone criticised singer Davido, describing him as a “content creator” rather than a true musician and insisting he cannot be compared to Wizkid, whom he called Davido’s “boss and mentor.”
He further alleged that the internet’s levelling effect was the reason Davido and Peller once collaborated.
On Whitemoney, he said he had encouraged the BBNaija winner to speak more online but dismissed his music career, saying his only real talent was cooking jollof rice.
He also accused Kiddwaya of projecting a false image of wealth.
Despite the criticisms, Deeone maintained that he remains popular among Nigerian youths, adding that many appreciate and support his work.
