The Zamfara State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project, in collaboration with Media and Publicity Consult (MPC), has embarked on training and capacity-building for enumerators on the importance of girls’ education in the state.

The enumerators’ capacity training was launched for the Zamfara West Senatorial Zone on Wednesday in Mafara town, the headquarters of Talata Mafara Local Government Area.

In his opening remarks, the AGILE consultant, Professor Abubakar Aliyu Liman, represented by the Chief Executive Officer of Media and Publicity Consult (MPC), Malam Nasiru Usman Biyabiki, disclosed that enumerators were drawn from six local government councils within the Zamfara West Senatorial Zone.

Biyabiki explained that the integrated marketing communications campaign training and capacity-building initiative aimed to enhance the enrolment drive for girls’ education.

“The enumerators drawn from the local government councils are expected to investigate and report the reasons why girls are not enrolled in school or drop out from school.”

Earlier, the Emir of Talata Mafara, Dr Bello Mohammed Barmo, pledged his support for the AGILE project in the emirate.

The Emir, while receiving members of Media and Publicity Consult, led by Malam Nasiru Usman Biyabiki, stated that his emirate was ready to support girls’ education, adding that knowledge is compulsory.

“No development without education. Girls’ education is important, and education remains the bedrock of development,” he stated.

At the training, a technical session on data collection tool simulation, as well as a question-and-answer segment, was led by Computer Analyst Mr Hibban Buhari and Engineer Yusuf Yahaya, Director of Research and Documentation at MPC in the state.
