A girl at the wee hours of Tuesday escaped death as two other boys were burnt to death by a fire incident at an apartment at 3 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
One of the deceased kids is a biological child of an officer at the barracks while the other kid was said to have come to spend last weekend with the family.
Our correspondent reliably gathered on Tuesday that two of them are siblings and were sleeping together in a room when the fire broke out.
Sketchy details said the fire affected only an apartment at 3 Battalion, Army Barracks.
The three children were the only occupants in the apartment when the incident happened.
Authorities of the barracks could not be reached, but an officer, who is not authorised to grant media chat, but pleaded anonymity confirmed the incident to our correspondent.
“The incident happened at the early hours of Tuesday. Three children were involved but one of them was able to escape the mysterious fire which was later put out.
“One of the children was brought there to spend the weekend by his mother,” the military officer noted.
