The Federal University Of Technology (FUT) Minna, in Niger state, has assured that it will continue to provide an enabling environment for academics that engage in cutting-edge research findings to thrive.
This, it said was to enable the research groups in the University to come up with cutting-edge research and breakthroughs that would provide solutions to most of the societal challenges confronting Nigeria and other African countries.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta gave the assurance while declaring open, the 2nd International Conference on Mathematical Modelling, Optimisation and Analysis of Disease Dynamics 2025 held at the main campus of the University, Gidan Kwano, in Minna, Niger State capital.

The Vice-Chancellor, who was represented at the week-long event, from Tuesday to Friday, by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof. Uno Essang Uno, gave the commendation to the Department of Mathematics and members of Maths Model Research Group. FUT Minna for doing a great job, while assuring them of continued support at all times to succeed.
According to Kuta, “I look at it this way the first edition of this programme was international and surprisingly at the second edition again. Everybody here physically and Virtually is welcome to the Federal University of Technology Minna, the Centre of Intelligence, the Centre of Excellence and the Centre of Research and the Centre of Promoting Excellent in the Global Arena
“We thank you for being here at FUT Minna, and for the steps you have taken and for you being here is to learn from what others are doing. And just like my brother mentioned, the journey you started in the Mathematics department, the collaboration, the teamwork that brought all of us together it will not die here, there will be a continuation.”
Also in separate remarks, the Dean, School of Physical Sciences; Prof Mohammed Jiya, said, “Please permit me to stand on the established protocols, distinguished Ladies and gentlemen. I am delighted to stand before you on this occasion the 2nd International Conference on Mathematical Modelling, Optimization and Analysis of Disease Dynamics ( ICMMOADD 2025) which is a significant scientific research of this research group.
” in addressing you all, and all members of the department of Mathematics and a newborn of Mathematics department, the department of Industrial Mathematics. It gives me great pleasure to see the cooperation, efforts and sacrifice put into making this occasion a success, saying that Mathematics modelling is employed today to predict and profer solutions to various diseases vis a vis official in the form of solutions and minimising the impacts of the outbreak
“.It is my belief that the communique to be issued at the end of this conference will address some of these problems faced by society and when the solutions are applied it will lead to the growth and development of the government of our nation. Finally,?i wish us all a peaceful and successful deliberations. Thank you, sirs.
Similarly, in his remarks, the Chairman Local Organizing Committee, Mathematics Model Research Group, Department of Mathematics FUT Minna, Prof Niniola Isaac Akinwande, expressed regrets that Academics were strangled economically due to lack of patronage and encouragement from governments.
He, however, emphasised that for them at FUT Minna, he can confidently say that the Institution’s Management, headed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta was firmly and strongly behind the research group.
Prof Niniola Akinwande, further explained that the International Conference was to also serve as an opportunity for researchers in Mathematics who were working and didn’t have a forum to publicise whatever they have accomplished for their findings, highlighting that their focus majorly was on disease modelling.
Also speaking, the Head of Department of Mathematics FUT Minna, Prof. Abdullahi Idris Enagi, pointed out that if he,in conjunction with his research group were actually supported to implement the results of their research, then definitely they will be bold to say that there will be solutions to all the problems affecting Nigeria and by extension Africa through the Mathematical Modelling.
Also presenting a paper virtually on the theme ‘Mathematical Modelling and, Application to Climate Change and Environmental Issues’, Senior Environmental Soil Scientist, Environmental Monitoring and Research Division Metropolitan District of Chicago, IL USA, Dr Olawale Oladeji, said due to the sophistication of modelling and scientific development, the US government and community leaders are able to predict, alert, and evacuate the citizens during emergencies such as hurricanes, floodings, wildfires, and other natural disasters.
He reiterated that with determination, collaboration, and support from policymakers, Nigeria can attain such a height.
In their separate remarks while presenting papers virtually and keynote address, Prof, G Mbah, the President of the Nigerian Mathematical Society, Department of Mathematics, University of Nigeria Nsukka and Mr. Jibril Adeniji Regional Managing Director, Guarantee Trust Bank, Tanzania, East Africa were unanimous that through collective efforts meaningful results could be achieved through the Mathematical research model.
