For Funke Akindele-Bello, it is time to smile again

Without doubt, Funke Akindele-Bello is happy again. If clocking 40 years is not enough reason to justify her joyful moment, the news making the round that she and her husband, JJC Skills are expecting their first baby together will surely leave some sparkling smiles on her face. Those who  have observed happenings in the life of the actress and movie producer in the last few years will not shy away from the fact that she has had her troubled moments. But all of that appears to have finally given way for the cheerful life she now leads.

Akindele has always been loved by people. This explained the public outcry that greeted her crashed marriage to Lagos big boy, Almaroof Oloyede, just after 14 months. Many people were shocked that the well celebrated wedding could crash irretrievably.

Only those who are very close to her would have observed what she went through those times when she sat in silence enjoying the ebb and flow of events as they unfolded one after the other.

It was a dark moment for the Ikorodu-born actress and she was said to have recoiled into her shell to restrategise. Coming out of the doldrums at that time was not a tea party as she reportedly ‘stayed away’ for a while only for her to return with a bang.

The success of her comedy series, ‘Jenifa’s Diary’ is a confirmation of that statement.

News about her being pregnant has been dominating the social media space for weeks since she took to the stage with her cute baby bump during an event sponsored by Globacom.

Some of her colleagues may have started dropping congratulatory messages at her instance on different platforms, but Akindele, like her husband, has remained tight-lipped even as they are said to be quietly making preparations for the arrival of their bundle of joy.
