FRSC set for full implementation of new number plates, driver’s license

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), is set for the full implementation of the new number plates as well as enforcement of Driver’s license for both motorcycles and tricycles operators in the country.

The Commander of the agency in Argungu Unit, Assistant Corp Commander Aliyu Maaji says the Units I set to partners with the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Argungu Emirate Council and other stakeholders to enlighten motorcycle and tricycles operators on the need to obtain driver’s license and new number plates for their safety on the road.

This is contained in a press statement signed by the Commanding Officer, ACC Aliyu Maaji, and issues to journalists in Sokoto on Wednesday.

Maaji called on motorcycle riders, tricyclist and motorist in Argungu, Augie and kangiwa local governments to as matter of urgency register their vehicles and obtain driver’s licence in order to avoid been accosted for traffic violations, saying FRSC would begin full enforcement from October 2, 2019.

The statement said ACC Maaji, who was at the palace of Emir of Argungu and the affected local governments, solicit for their support in the enforcement of the policy.

“He further informed motorcycle associations to cooperate with FRSC as the enforcement is for the good of our society and is not for revenue drive.

“He disclosed that a rally would be organized on Wednesday, October 2, to further remind members of the public about the expected enforcement.

“The Corp Commander also thank the Argungu Emirate for its laudable support in making sure that FRSC policies and programmes are carried out and promised that directive issued by the zonal commander ACM Kayode Olagunju would be carried out to the later” he assured.
