Four die, two injured in Ogun road crashes

Not less than four people have been confirmed dead in three road crashes that occurred in different parts of Ogun State on Monday.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Public Education Officer, Route Commander Florence Okpe also confirmed that two other people were injured in the three crashes.

According to her, one person died in the first crash involving a blue Peugeot 406 car with registration number JAL304RX and another unregistered vehicle.

While stating that the accident occurred at about 4:30 am on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway around the Ogere Trailer Park, Okpe said the corpse was deposited at the morgue of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) Sagamu after he died from complications of injuries sustained in the crash.

Okpe also said one person was killed while another was injured in the second crash involving one Iveco truck and occurred at about 6:07 am on the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Expressway by the old Toll Gate Plaza.

The FRSC Spokesperson said that two people died in the third crash involving a Volkswagen bus and Bajaj motorcycle at about 7:20 pm along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway while the passenger who sustained injuries was taken to Supreme Global Hospital for medical care. She noted that the two vehicles were not registered.

The Command enjoined motorists to drive cautiously and exercise more restraints so as to avoid delay, panic and apprehension at the diversions made by the construction companies rehabilitating the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway may cause.

Okpe said the Command is, however, working with Julius Berger Nigeria, who will resume work today (Tuesday) and Reynolds Construction Company alongside other traffic and emergency agencies to mitigate the traffic experiences of motorists during this period.
