Fountain University, Osogbo, has recorded 84% increase in student enrollment between the two academic sessions.
The institution, according to Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ramota Karim, during the press briefing to announce the 14th convocation on Wednesday, disclosed that growth witnessed by the university would be tagged to its commitment to academic excellence and innovation between the 2021/2022 and 2023/2024 academic sessions.
Vice-Chancellor highlighted the university’s progress stating that “the introduction of innovative new programmes, alongside the revitalization of existing ones, has contributed to a remarkable surge in student enrollment. Between the 2021/2022 and 2023/2024 academic sessions, we have witnessed an impressive 84% increase in enrollment.
“Our postgraduate programmes are thriving, now hosting over 250 students, a testament to the university’s expanding reputation for advanced learning and impactful research. Admissions for the 2024/2025 academic session are in full swing, conducted in line with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), while postgraduate admissions are now seamlessly managed online, enhancing accessibility for prospective students.”

While answering questions on how the institution plan to sustain enrollment growth while maintaining academic quality despite the student surge, Prof Karim said the university has renovated classrooms and lecturers quarters to modern standard to ensure smooth learning.
“Fountain University has taken monumental strides in campus development, aligning with our vision to create a world-class, student-centred learning environment. These remarkable upgrades and additions symbolize our relentless pursuit of excellence and our commitment to nurturing a thriving academic community.”
The Vice-Chancellor, however, revealed that the university will confer a total of 345 degrees.
“For the 14th convocation, our university celebrates the academic accomplishments of 345 graduates across sub-degree, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels.
“The university will confer diplomas, first degrees, and higher degrees as follows: 315 First Degrees, with 16 achieving First-Class Honours, 105 earning Second-Class Upper Division, 120 attaining Second-Class Lower Division, and 37 securing Third Class,” she noted.
