About 20 boys and girls have benefitted from vocational training organised by the Olumide Osunsina Foundation (OOF).
The beneficiaries were presented with certificates and equipment skills at a ceremony in Ibadan.
Speaking at the ceremony, wife of the founder, Mrs Desire Osunsina, said the youths’ skill training programme was borne out of his passion for humanity, especially for the young ones.
She said the foundation is committed to improving the lives of underprivileged and underserved children and youths in society.
She said her husband, Chief Olumide Osunsina, wants to train young Nigerians in skills acquisition in order to improve their quality of life.
She also revealed that part of their programme includes helping school children who cannot afford their fees.
“Otunba Olumide Osunsina is the Chief Executive Director of Megamond Investment; the company has been doing business for the last 30 years in real estate and it has been successful and from that passion, he decided to give back to his people, as he has his roots in Ibadan, and that is why the foundation started here in Ibadan.
“We have graduated 20 people today; that is the first major graduation and every year, we are looking to increase that number. We are looking at ways to increase the capital of the foundation, which is still self-funded by the founder, Otunba Olumide Osunsina.”
Osunsina then encouraged other well-meaning Nigerians to assist other people so as to make the country better.
“We cannot rely on the government for everything; you cannot have so much and not want to just give, you can’t feel happy, so my charge to people, especially good-spirited people is that they should find time to assist others.”
In his remark, the Project Manager, Mr Ayodeji Oriyomi, said the foundation’s core focus and values are rooted in two integral areas of intervention – skill acquisition for youth empowerment and scholarship support for orphan and vulnerable children (OVC).
He disclosed that the foundation commenced its first six-month youth skills training programme with 20 beneficiaries between April and October 2022, where the trainees were duly guided by the 00F assessment benchmark which demands adherence to a pre-designed training outline from trainers/instructor.
Also, the keynote speaker, Mrs Edem Ossai, charged other well-to-do Nigerians to join hands with OOF to keep addressing the youth and unemployment in Nigeria.
