In line with the vision of reaching out to people in order to lend a hand of fellowship and put smiles on their faces, a nongovernmental organization; Fellow Support Humanitarian Foundation, is set to hold the third edition of its annual outreach where it reaches out to hundreds of people to meet their immediate needs financially, health wise and also by engaging in sensitization for a better life for them.

The foundation holds it programme annually and for its first edition, it touched children and the widows as well as the aged but for its second edition, beneficiaries went beyond widows, the aged and needy in the society, the organisation also held a get together for over 160 children to allow them have a taste of yuletide while there was also medical outreach, distribution clothing, groceries and medication to those that needed it.

The outreach which held at the Redeemed Christian Church Winners Sanctuary, Mopol 4 Barracks, Oyo State Police headquarters Ibadan, had beneficiaries from diverse age groups and the focus was to make life easier for people in the area of health; education and provision of basic amenities.

Speaking during the outreach, the founder, Pastor Umoru Benedict David, said the organization came into existence in obedience to the instructions he received in a vision on July 25, 2023, adding that the vision is in line with some provisions of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

“Let me also state that this foundation aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in specific areas; they ones we align with are; Number one, no to extreme poverty; Number 2, zero hunger; Number three, good health and wellness; Number 4, good education; Number 5, gender equality; Number 6, clean water sanitation; Number16, peace, justice and strong institutions, Number 17, partnership for the goals which all tally with the International Declaration of Human Rights 1-30, specifically Number 25 which is about food and shelter for all and Number 26 which focuses on right to education.

“Like I stated in the maiden edition, this foundation was divinely orchestrated and executed. There’s this saying in Yoruba that goes thus, ‘Ohun kan asoro se bi ohun ti olorun ko ba lowo si,’ meaning that whatever has God supports must certainly prosper. Humanitarianism, welfare, volunteerism have always been part of me for decades, though not as elaborately as it’s being done presently. Some years ago, i used to have a private medical diagnostic outfit in Ibadan code named Bionic Diagnostic Laboratory (BDL) where patients visited for various kinds of laboratory investigations at little or no cost. This, I thought was my contribution to the society and for the good of humanity.

“Though last year, we had sponsors and catered about 200 people in attendance, excluding children and this year it has expanded because we also had more individuals coming in to support the vision. I can’t but acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of the various health professionals who have dedicatedly committed to this course of serving and meeting the needs of humanity, including all medical and support staff that joined the team.

“We are set to meet the needs of the less privileged in the society by His grace. Conclusively, we hope and pray that by this time next year, things would have been better for all, Nigeria inclusive, ” Pastor Umoru added.

He further expressed the wish that people will have the mind to help each other and fill vacuums in the society by showing love to their neigbours so that the worlds will be a better place for all, irrespective of social status or religious affiliations. He urged everyone who benefited from the outreach to extend this hand of love to their neighbors too, praying that those being given now will also be elevated to start giving tomorrow.

And now, all is set for the third edition of the outreach and unlike its previous editions, Fellow Support Humanitarian Foundation has made arrangements to increase is beneficiary base in order to touch more lives and also give hope to those that would normally have enjoyed a bleak yuletide.
