Foundation plans training of 1,000 Kano youths, widows, others in vocations

A non-governmental organisation, Ar-Riddoh Islamic International Foundation, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a firm, Islah Consult, in Kano, Kano State, for the training of 1,000 youths, underprivileged widows, orphans and persons with special needs.

The founder and Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Sheikh Muhammadu-Jamiu Abdulgafar, who made the disclosure, said the agreement was in furtherance of the organisation’s commitment to achieving its Vision 2030. 

According to Sheikh Abdulgafar, the foundation has recorded landmark achievements in terms of youths’ training and signing of similar agreements with other like-minded organisations.

“The training, which will come up immediately after the holy month of Ramadan, will focus on leadership, skills acquisition and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

The training is to empower the youth with requisite leadership acumen and to make them financially stable for poverty alleviation in society.

“Ar-Riddoh is expanding the frontiers of its multiple trainings to all nooks and crannies of Nigerian states in order to achieve our Vision 2030, which is to train and empower 10,000 youths, the underprivileged among widows, orphans and persons with special needs who will become trainers of trainees,” he noted.

He said the foundation had completed the training of 600 individuals comprising women, orphans, indigent students and persons with special needs on economic survival at the Barewa College, Zaria.

The programme was replicated at Kawo Primary School, Kaduna, where 1,000 graduands were trained in various vocations and initiatives.

Residents of Rigasa, Kaduna, also benefitted from the programmes of Ar-Riddoh Islamic International Foundation which, according to Sheikh Abdulgafar, are intended to raise the financial status of Nigerians and equip them with necessary leadership skills for societal transformation and national development.

Four hundred beneficiaries were considered for training in various vocations in August 2024 to enable to earn a decent living.

Abdulgafar explained that the foundation is working to attract support for the beneficiaries in terms as start-up capitals.

“Ar-Riddoh Islamic International Foundation is unrelenting in its drive to collaborate with philanthropists locally and internationally to provide interest-free start-up loans to be repaid in flexible instalments spread till 2030, in line with our vision,” he said.

He pointed out that religious and community leaders were engaged and incorporated into the scheme as stakeholders for the effective monitoring of the progress of the beneficiaries’ businesses and vocations.

Sheikh Abdulgafar added: “Ar-Riddoh also adopts proxy mentorship as the foundation has saddled our community partners religious and community leaders in various locations with the responsibility of data collection and to follow up on how the beneficiaries are faring so they can provide us with the assessment report after one year.

“The foundation offers broad training to youths and other interested individuals on cosmetology, catering, baking, phone repair, production of traditional incense, bag making, shoemaking, bed sheet and pillow making, perfumery and makeup within a period of one month and awards a diploma certificate in ICT fundamental knowledge to successful graduates.”
