A Civil Liberty Organization identified as Stand For Humanity Foundation, has paid N800k delivery bill of a newly born twin, Amarachi Ngerem.
The newly born was held in a hospital in Owerri, Imo State, after over one month of her delivery because of the inability of her parents to pick the hospital bill.
One of the child born as a twin survived after her twin died 24hours after delivery.
In a statement issued in Owerri on Saturday, the President of the Foundation, Chidiebube Okeoma, disclosed that his organization had cleared the bill, gave the parents of the kid money and also taken them to theirin Obazu Mbieri home in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the state.
He said that his organization led a fund raising advocacy on social media from where the delivery bill was paid.
Okeoma, an activist journalist and humanitarian, said that a compassionate Nigerian, Dr Chima Amadi, of The Mazi Organization cleared the bill through his organization while other compassionate Nigerians paid money into the twin father’s bank account which his organization had asked him to use for the upkeep of the surviving twin.
According to Okeoma, Stand For Humanity Foundation got interested in the new born’s case after it was brought to the attention of the organization that the newly born was being held back at the hospital after being discharged because of her parents inability to offset the bill.
He said: ” we are happy to announce that a surviving twin, Amarachi Ngerem, born over one month ago in Owerri and held in a a hospital since then because of her parents inability to pick the hospital delivery bill of N800k has gone home”
He said that his Organization, Stand For Humanity Foundation didn’t only clear the bill, but also drove the child and her parents home to Obazu Mbieri in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.
He said that he was moved by Stand For Humanity Foundation’s interest to see the kid leave the hospital after a long stay.
He said: “our Organization, Stand For Humanity Foundation, drove them home, gave the kid’s parents money and asked the father of the surviving twin to use the money other benevolent Nigerians donated into his bank account details to take care of the bundle of joy”
