Foundation gifts 50 indigent students UTME forms

A non-governmental organisation, Olawale Haruna Ariyo Foundation (OHAF) has covered the registration fees for 50 students, who will be sitting for the oncoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The foundation also pledged to pay the first-year school fee of five of them, who will get the highest UTME scores and also successfully secure admission into universities.

Director-General of the foundation, Mr Monsur Olugbade, in a statement said the foundation took the initiative to support the academic pursuits of the beneficiaries who are from underprivileged homes.

He said there are so many children, particularly in communities such as the Ajeromi-Ifelodun axis in Lagos State, where the foundation is based that really need help not only to go to school but also in some other aspects of life.

He said foundations such as OHAF must help such children in any way possible.

Disclosing that the foundation also distributed free school uniforms to about 200 children from within its operational base recently, Olugbade said the foundation decided to buy the UTME forms for the prospective undergraduates as a way of encouraging them and lessening financial burdens on their parents.

He said many families are really going through a difficult time based on the high costs of living at the moment across the country.

“So, those who have little must be able to share from that little with those, who have almost nothing in the society irrespective of their tribes, religion or political affiliations and that is what our foundation is committed to.

“And we will continue to impact humanity in any way possible,” he stressed.
