The IQRAA Foundation with support from LEAP Africa in collaboration with Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF), have distributed One Million Naira Livelihood Grant to survivors of violence in Zamfara State.
The foundation has also trained 100 youth, across four communities in Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism and countering the spread of fake news.
Speaking during the formal presentation ceremony held at Council Chamber, Emir Palace in Gusau, the Project Manager, IQRAA Foundation Umar Mahmud Umar highlighted that the aim of the initiatives is to restore hope, foster economic resilience, and empower beneficiaries to rebuild their lives.
The grant was awarded to 16 beneficiaries as provided by the “Path to Peace”, and was categorized into three groups that include Entrepreneurial Growth Grants (₦100,000 each) for business expansion, Self-Reliance Starter Grants (₦50,000 each) for new businesses, and Resilience & Inclusion Grant for persons with special needs.
The Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, who led the distribution, commended the foundation for their intervention, which he described as “timely and laudable.”
He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely and called for the project’s expansion to reach more displaced persons.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the IQRAA Foundation, stating that the grant would help them grow their small businesses and achieve financial independence.
