Former Reps member urges Northerners to invest in children education

A former member of the House of Representatives, Sani Kutigi, has implored  parents and guardians in the northern part of Nigeria to invest in their children and wards’ western education for the socio-economic development of  the region.

Kutigi gave the advice in his remarks as the chairman during the end of year reunion organised by 1980 set old students of the  Federal Government College, Kwali, Abuja, Kaduna chapter.

He noted that western eduction was key for development in any society, hence there was the need for parents and guardians especially in the northern region  to invest in their children and wards education, for the region to achieve its quest in the area of socioeconomic development.

He said the northern Nigeria had lagged behind in terms of pursuance of western eduction and all parents and guardians must wake up from their slumber.

He further noted that “most of the developed countries succeed through investment in the education of their citizens.”

“Education is one of the critical sectors of the economy, parents, governments and stakeholders in the region  must rise to the occasion so that the level of illiteracy, particularly in the northern part of this country, will be reduced to the barest minimum.”

Kutigi, who was also an old student of the college, urged the old  students to be more united especially in order to benefit from one another.

“We should be more united for us to benefit from one another and initiate more ideas on how we can improve on our relationship,” he said.

Also speaking, chairman of the branch,  Mr Musa Ibrahim, said “We have people from far and near and this reunion is being organised by the Kaduna branch and the idea is about togetherness and networking, because you cannot live in isolation.”

He further said “if you want to progress, definitely you must be networking. The intimacy among school mates is even better than that of blood relation, we will continue  networking with our members for future improvement.”

In her remarks the welfare officer of the association Hajiya  Talatu Danjuma Abdulganiyu said, the idea is for reunion  because some of us have left for a very long time and it is a great opportunity to met again.

In their separate remarks, some of the old students expressed delight for the reunion and urged the association to sustained it  so that to forge ahead.
