Former Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ahmed Aliyu Mustapha, has died.
Mustapha, who led the Service between 1999 and 2003, passed away on Thursday, according to a statement by Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
“Deeply saddened by the passing of Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Musdafa, former CG of Customs. A man of service, dignity & duty whose legacy will live on.
“My prayers are with Lamido Adamawa, the Musdafa royal family & all who mourn him. May Allah grant him Aljannah Firdaus,” Fintiri wrote on his social media pages.
Mustapha, who retired from the Service in December 2003 after more than three decades of duty, was an elder brother to the Lamido of Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha.
He also held the traditional title of Sardauna Adamawa.
He began his career as a young cadet in the Customs Service and steadily rose through the ranks before his appointment as Comptroller-General at the start of the Fourth Republic.
