Flood: We’ll reconstruct washed away bridges, roads — Gov Idris

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has pledged to reconstruct the bridges and roads that were washed away in Suru and Maiyama Local Government Areas of the state.

The governor made this commitment on Tuesday while inspecting the damaged bridge along the Suru-Kawara-Dakingari road and some rice farms destroyed by floods in Suru Local Government Area.

In a press statement issued by the Governor’s Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, it was noted that Governor Idris reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting all residents across the state.

Governor Idris emphasized that the state government would rehabilitate the bridges and reconstruct the roads, ensuring that farmers receive the necessary support for effective food production in the state. He assured that his administration is dedicated to achieving food security.

Speaking at the event, State House of Assembly member representing Suru, Hon. Faruku Maisudan, APC chairmanship candidate for Suru, Mohd Lawal, and the Village Head of Kawara, praised Governor Idris for his efforts in providing farmers with essential resources.

The governor also inspected the washed-away bridge along Jega-Mayalo road in Maiyama Local Government Area. Accompanied by the District Head of Mayalo, Malam Abubakar Marafa, the governor assured that the state government would rehabilitate the bridge.

During a visit to the washed-away culvert along Diggi road, the District Head of Diggi, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku-Diggi, informed the governor that the culvert had been destroyed due to heavy rainfall.

Governor Idris was accompanied by his Deputy, Sen. Umar Abubakar-Tafida, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, former Kebbi State Governor Sa’idu Usman Nasamu-Dakingari, Head of Service, Alhaji Safiyanu Garba-Bena, and other members of the State Executive Council (SEC).
