Five persons have been confirmed dead in an accident that occurred at the Akobo end of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Friday.
One person is critically injured while six others were rescued without sustaining any form of injury.
The injured victim is currently receiving medical attention at Metro Hospital, Akobo in Lagelu local government area
The Federal Road Safety Commission, (FRSC), confirmed the incident in its RTC First Information Report made available to our correspondent in Ibadan.
The report attributed the incident to a head-on collision that involved two commercial vehicles; a red colour Micra car and one other car that its category is not mentioned in the report
It was disclosed in the report that five persons lost their lives, one critically while six others were rescued without sustaining any form of injury.
The report stated: “The Police has taken the injured victim to Metro Hospital before the arrival of Road Safety personnel while the accident vehicle has been towed to Akobo Police station.
“In order to avoid the occurrence of accidents on the highway, the FRSC warned motorists against route violation.”
