Onidiri festival brings hair, heritage, beauty to life in London

‎On Saturday, 23 August 2025, the first-ever Onidiri Festival will take over Community House, South Street, Bromley from 11 AM to 6 PM, offering London an unforgettable celebration of African hair artistry, cultural heritage, and community connection.

‎Named after the Yoruba word for hair artist, the festival transforms the art of hairstyling into a stage for identity, creativity, and pride. Here, every braid, twist, and loc tells a story—connecting past traditions with present innovation.

‎In a conversation with newsmen, the festival founder Favour Ben said “Onidiri Festival is more than beauty—it’s about telling our stories, honouring our roots, and creating a platform for African and Afro-Caribbean artists, entrepreneurs, and creatives to shine. This first edition is the seed of something that will grow into a cultural landmark.”

‎The day’s programme is bursting with talent, featuring such as;

‎Live Performances:

‎Adeniyi Morolahun (Abuletic King) – master percussionist
‎Elfrida Onuora – soulful vocalist
‎Sophia Newton – captivating dancer
‎Adeolamuzik – performing artist blending African rhythm with modern flair
‎Olusegun Adetipe (Owonijo) – drummer and cultural storyteller , Olanrewau Balogun – Preforming Artist , Samuel Ogundapo (DayoSax),  Digital Artist Talk – Anselem Nkoro ( Artist, Chukwudi Okoro (Artist)
‎Samuel Ogundapo (Dayo Sax) – saxophonist weaving smooth jazz into African melodies

‎Fashion Showcase: Opeyemi Adenokun (House of Anny) – stunning
‎Olanrewaju Balogun (Performing artist)

‎For many, African hair is more than a style—it’s a living archive of identity, resilience, and creativity. This inaugural Onidiri Festival creates a rare, affirming space in the UK where heritage is not just remembered but celebrated, shared, and passed on.

‎Favour Ben said  “We want everyone to leave feeling proud—whether that’s about their craft, their culture, or simply being part of something bigger than themselves.”

‎The details are Saturday, 23 August 2025. Time is  11:00 AM – 6:00 PM. The venue is Community House, South Street, Bromley, London, BR1 1RH.
