First Baptist Church, Garki, Abuja, has refuted allegations of financial mismanagement and constitutional forgery under the leadership of its former Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji.
In a statement issued by Dr. Emmanuel Chibuzor Ibe, a Trustee, and Deacon Adedamola Akanbi, the Church Secretary, the congregation dismissed the claims circulating on social media as baseless and fabricated.
The church emphasized that its financial records remain intact, are regularly audited, and are managed by qualified financial personnel.
It also stated that all financial transactions under Rev. Dr. Akanji’s tenure strictly adhered to due process and the church’s policies.

Condemning the campaign to “embarrass and harass” the former Senior Pastor, the church reaffirmed its unwavering support for him, highlighting his 22-year leadership, which transformed First Baptist Church, Garki, into one of the leading churches in the Nigerian Baptist Convention.
The statement clarified that no complaints had been lodged with the Nigeria Police by the church’s Board of Trustees and dismissed any legal action against the church or its leadership as an attempt by “evil forces” to malign its reputation.
Expressing gratitude to concerned individuals disturbed by the false narrative, the church reassured its members and the public that it remains steadfast in its mission. “First Baptist Church, Garki, Abuja, is marching on, and the gates of hell shall not prevail,” the statement concluded.
