Afree, a social networking application has been launched in Nigeria with a plan to kickstart in other African countries for social networking, education, and entertainment with content creators with a reward for users on the platform.
The new application was on Monday unveiled at the prestigious University of Lagos, Akoka,Yava, Lagos State.
Speaking at the product unveiling, Country Representative, Dr Joshua Orabiyi remarked that the social application platform with the deep understanding of the Africa continent, with a youth populace, the place of education, entertainment and technology is in high demand with a huge reward platform that can be monetized for the users.
He stated, “The app is built by a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, Joel Abati is in the former soviet union they are bordered with Uzbekistan and tajikistan.
“These guys are people who have a heart they also somehow feel like they are africans and i believe in the Russia federation with many of them and i know what i’m saying on the team of Africa, we are majorly Africans as this was done for us as a form of a service”
Hence, the launch of Afree, for African countries, as the platform is created with a Pan-African experience while educating, connecting, and networking among countries and continents as this will boost the user experience on the mobile platform.
He added that while the application is free and can be fully monetized for gains, the conception of exploitation of users profile is not part of the product, as there exist no infringement of users profile.
Dr. Orabiyi stressed that the application is encrypted making it difficult for scammers to exploit users on the social networking platform.
He asserted, “We are already putting and when I say we, I mean all of the technical people, that is why we have cyber security even as a course now, or a major course in most universities, I think even in Nigeria.
“ We have people who are trying also to block those spaces that are being opened for people to steal.
“I want younger ones also who are here to take this as a charge for those of you who want to pick courses, i will tell you for free that if you are a cyber security person you are needed in our generation and even generations to come.” he stated.
