A fire has gutted the radio station at Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo State, destroying millions of naira worth of equipment, properties, and other items.
The incident, which occurred on Monday morning, was reportedly caused by an electrical surge from the air-conditioning unit within the station located on the university premises.
Hon. Maroof Akinwande, Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, confirmed the incident and stated that the fire was reported at 11:55 AM on September 1, 2025.

Fire service officers quickly responded to the scene, where they found the studio engulfed in flames and smoke. They managed to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading further, and saved valuable equipment despite the destruction.
Thankfully, no casualties were recorded. Akinwande urged the public to be vigilant about fire safety and emphasised the importance of having properly maintained fire extinguishers in buildings to prevent such incidents.
