Fire guts Bola Ige market in Ibadan

Textiles and other materials worth millions of naira were lost in a fire at the popular Bola Ige Market in Gbagi, located in the Egbeda local government area, on Sunday.

The incident, which occurred around 1:23 PM, caused panic among traders and residents in the neighborhood.

Affected traders expressed their sorrow over the fire, which has become a frequent occurrence in various markets across the state in recent times.

It was reported that the fire began in one of the shops and quickly spread to other nearby shops before it was brought under control by the State Fire Services.

Confirming the incident to our correspondent in a telephone conversation, the General Manager of the State Fire Services, Rev. Akinremi Akinyinka said, “We received calls from our officers at Gbagi station, DPO Gbagi station and many market leaders at around 1;23 pm.

“The fire is under control and are men are still cooling down.”
