Finally, Aero Contractors to commence payment of redundant workers

The hitherto communication breakdown between the management of Aero Contractors and  the Na­tional Association of Air­craft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) over payment of redundant workers may soon be resolved as information just emerged that the airline management may soon commence the payment of the  affected people.

According information gathered, the airline’s management is set to begin the payment of the workers by the end of this month.

The union reached an agreement with the airline’s management to make payments in April, em­phasising that two employees from each of the three unions would be paid monthly.

Confirming this, the Comrade Olayinka Abioye, General Secretary of NAAPE, Comrade Olayinka Abioye revealed how after a meeting between the airline and the union, the management of the airline after narrating the challenges confronting it, however pledged their determination towards committing more funds to service the outstanding redundancy benefits of the affected workers.

Abioye who said the redundant workers will be paid in batches, declared: “We have reached an understanding that moving forward, payments shall be effected this month for 2 people from each of the three unions and trust your good selves, 75% of these payments shall go to NAAPE members.

“We have shown commitment to the continued growth of Aero and this has rekindled hope that things can be done better with more funds in their kitty.

Abioye however, pleaded on behalf of the union, “that given our observations of unfolding situation in the airline, it cannot do better than what’s just been offered.

As it is often said, a little drop of water makes the mighty ocean let us look forward that by next month some other people shall smile home with something.

Following the development, six members of the affected unions, Air Transport Senior Staff Ser­vices Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), and NAAPE, will be paid monthly until all backlogs are settled.
