Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo has condemned the behavior of Ms. Comfort Emmanson, a passenger on Ibom Air flight Q153 from Uyo to Lagos, who physically assaulted flight crew and ground staff on August 10, 2025 but has promised to punish the airline’s official who released the viral video to the public.
The Minister however said that he has directed sanctions against Ibom Air officials who released a video containing indecent exposure of the passenger, emphasizing the importance of respecting the dignity of individuals, particularly women.
“We will not fold our arms and tolerate the debasing of womanhood, ” he stated

Keyamo said he has also directed Ibom Air to retrain staff in public relations and handling explosive situations, while a joint security meeting will be held next week to improve coordination of security measures.
The minister however reminded passengers that there are laid-down remedies for addressing grievances, and taking the law into one’s hands will attract dire consequences
The incident occurred after Emmanson refused to switch off her phone during takeoff, despite repeated instructions from the crew.
Narrating the ordeal, Keyamo said a fellow passenger eventually switched off the phone, prompting a verbal outburst from Emmanson.
Upon arrival in Lagos, the situation escalated as she attacked the Purser, tore off her wig, and assaulted her with her footwear. Emmanson also attempted to remove a fire extinguisher to use as a weapon.
“The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has imposed an indefinite flight ban on Emmanson, while the police have arraigned her at the Ikeja Magistrates Court for criminal offenses and remanded her at Kirikiri Prisons for lack of adequate sureties,”Keyamo stressed
