The Federal Government has stressed the need for the production of nourishing foods in order to enhance the well-being of the people nationwide.
The Minister of State for Health, Dr Isiak Salako, made the submission while delivering the 3rd Faculty Lecture of Food and Consumer Sciences at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, on Tuesday.
He said, “The truth is stark that our current food system, encompassing production, processing, distribution, and consumption, are neither adequately nourishing our people nor sustaining our environment”.

Salako noted that agricultural development is an integral part of National development. It is that aspect of development that is related to agrarian reforms.
He posited that, considering the contribution of Agriculture to the socioeconomic development of many countries, several scholars have postulated theories linking Agriculture with national development.
Dignitaries at the event included the representative of the Vice Chancellor of LAUTECH, Professor Dahud Olurotimi Araromi, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Strategy and Development) of the Institution, Professor Tunde Ogunkunle, representative of the Bursar, Alhaja Khadijat Olawoore, and University Librarian, Professor Sarah Adefunke Ebijuwa.
Also in attendance was the Dean, Faculty of Food and Customer Sciences, Professor Emmanuel Adedapo Akande.
