FG should demand compensation for victims of xenophobic attacks ― Obasa

Lagos State House of Assembly has urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to demand compensation for Nigerian victims of Xenophobic attacks from South African Government.
The Speaker of the House, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa made this disclosure at the plenary session held yesterday at the Chambers of the Assembly.
Obasa, who expressed displeasure over the attacks, noted that the Federal Government should leverage on all the necessary legal framework to ensure its achievement.
“The Federal Government should take every necessary step in making sure that Nigerians who suffered the Xenophobic attacks in South Africa get compensated by the South African Government.
“If necessary, the legal framework should be leveraged upon to ensure that this is achieved,” The Speaker said.
Meanwhile, Obasa lamented that the Federal Government has not done enough in ending Xenophobic attacks against its people.
He, therefore, enjoined it to put all hands on deck and bring this to an end for unity and progress.
