THE Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita has reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government to reposition the federal public service for improved service delivery.
Mrs Oyo-Ita said this during the meeting of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) with Multilateral/Development Partners in Abuja.
She said this was in line with the objectives of the Federal Civil Strategy and Implementation Plan, adding that it was expected that by year 2020, the following successes would have been achieved: N60-120 billion savings from cleaning human resource data on Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS); and N2.5 billion annual savings from digitising content.
She said the reforms initiative would also lead to training of about 25,000 civil servants through revamped core modules; 200 future leaders cultivated through LEAD-P; five ministries with performance management system tools, routines, and dialogues to drive results based performance among others.
She said all these were aimed at enhancing service delivery, efficiency and productivity in the public service.
Mrs Oyo-Ita expressed optimism that the present reform would be successful because of its features which included high impact prioritisation on initiatives; specificity with actionable and detailed implementation plan, clear governance to drive reforms, partnership for resources to support implementation and change management as well as communication plan.
The Head of Civil Service expressed the commitment of the OHCSF to engage the support of Multilateral/Development Partners to ensure the successful implementation of the strategy.
She, therefore, urged them to support the initiative to ensure sustainable socio-economic development of Nigeria.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, Mr Mustapha Sulaiman, explained that the objective of the meeting was for the Project Management Teams to interact with the Multilateral and Development Partners to identify and agree on areas of intervention/support for the successful implementation of the eight priority initiatives of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan.
Present at the meeting were representatives of DFID, EU, USAID, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and UNDP.
