President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reassured investors of Nigeria’s commitment to full stream and investor-friendly platform which will encourage global stakeholders to make use of the country’s abundant energy opportunities.

Delivering a speech with the theme, ‘Bridging Continents, Connecting Investors Worldwide with Africa’s Energy Potential’, the President who was represented by the Minister of State, Finance, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, while declaring open the 8th Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) which was held at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja on Tuesday, said the event brought to the fore, Nigeria’s potential to emerge as a global energy powerhouse anchored on innovative policies and strong commitment to sustainable development.

According to Uzoka-Anite, the Tinubu administration is focusing on energy diversification while reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to expanding its energy mix thus attracting investment cutting across various sectors.

“I stand before you with unwavering confidence in Nigeria’s potential to be a global powerhouse in the energy sector driven by strategic reforms, innovative policies and a steadfast commitment to sustainable development. I express my sincere appreciation to the organisers of this event for their dedication in making this summit with a strategic platform for industry leaders, policymakers and investors.

“Nigeria’s energy sector has long been a cornerstone of our economy contributing significantly to government revenue, employment and foreign exchange earnings. In 2025, we would witness and we are witnessing renaissance in this sector characterised by transformative initiatives and significant milestones.

“The operationalisation of local refining marks a pivotal moment in our journey towards energy self-sufficiency and energy resilience. Landmark projection of refining and processing not only ensures that we meet our domestic demand but also positions Nigeria as a competitive player in the global market.

“Nigeria is now home to the largest single refinery in the world, the Dangote Refinery, which is a private refinery and also the biggest refinery in Africa. And this is due to the enabling environment created to support such investment and we have more incentives for more investors looking into the sector,” the President said.

Tribune Online reports that the NIES is a high-level business event that offers access to technical information, equipment exhibition and networking opportunities.
